February Home Maintenance

February Home Maintenance

Start Planning for a Spring or Summer Home Sale

If you’re considering putting your home on the market this year, it’s a good idea to start the process now, near the beginning of the year. Set a timetable, choose your realtor, and make a list of renovations and tasks that need to get done to help your home show well (and check out our article on our new service, Curbio!)

Boost Warmth

Save on energy bills and stay warm by blocking drafty doors with door sweeps or door snakes! Add rugs, throws and duvets to every room to bundle up. For even more energy savings, shut doors to unused rooms, move furniture away from heating vents and close the chimney flue when it’s not in use!

Change Wi-Fi and Personal Passwords

Regularly changing your home Wi-Fi password and passwords to accounts like email, bank, and social media accounts can keep you and your loved ones safe. Make sure every password is unique and complex for extra security. It’s best to do this more than once a year, and early in the year is a perfect time to start!

Deep Clean to Prevent Mold

This February, clean out your vents, fix any water leaks, and scrub the walls and ceilings to prevent black mold and other household mildews. Pay special attention to your bathrooms, which are a paradise for molds, mildew, and fungus to grow.

Change Your HVAC Filter

Air quality is so important inside and outside your home. Breathe a little easier going into spring by changing your HVAC air filters wherever your vent is located. While vents can vary from home to home, the process only takes as long as changing a lightbulb. Add a humidifier in your bedroom to breathe your best while sleeping, too!

Upgrade Locks

Look into smart locks! They help boost safety and bring greater convenience to your daily life! Smart locks make it easier for you to get in and out of your house without letting intruders in. They’re especially handy for anyone who tends to lose their keys or needs to let visitors in before they arrive home.
